[Only schools recognized by the Illinois School Board of Education (ISBE) are eligible to participate in this program. Schools marked “PENDING RECOGNITION” are in the process of being recognized by ISBE and there are no guarantees that such schools will be recognized by the time a student must submit a school enrollment letter to Empower Illinois. A student who selects a school that is marked as “PENDING RECOGNITION” may not be able to use scholarship money to attend that school. If a school marked “PENDING RECOGNITION” does not receive recognition by ISBE prior to the expiration date set forth in the scholarship award, a student who is awarded a scholarship must enroll at a recognized school and funds must be available for such award by the date in the award letter or the scholarship award will be forfeited. There are no guarantees that funds will be available for any student in such case as all scholarship awards are subject to the availability of funds.]
